- Ice Skating at Robson Square
Ready to channel your inner athlete? Then head on down to Robson Square for some fun ice skating. You’ll be able to see the beautiful downtown lights and decorated trees for your holiday. From December 1st to February 29, admission will be of no cost! If you would like to rent a helmet that will be an additional fee, but you can still skate for free from 9am to 9pm as long as you bring all your gear! Whether you go in a group or alone, you’ll be sure to have a great time.
- Capilano Suspension Bridge
The next stop on this list is one of the most popular tourist spots in Vancouver. Not only does it give you the thrill of crossing the Capilano river running 70 meters below, you can also see the winter wonderland lights running through the park. From November 22 to January 25, you’ll be able to see the Canyon Lights. With an array of beautiful glowing decorations as you walk past on the Treetops Adventure, it is no doubt that the lights will be a delight for your eyes.
- Hot Chocolate on Granville Island
If you want a fun group activity along with a tasty treat, hot chocolate testing at Granville Island is just the thing for you! Grab a couple of your friends, and head on over to Kasma Chocolate Shop for a workshop in Chocolate making and have some fun tasting a couple flavors too. If you simply want to grab a drink together, then Thierry Chocolates is a great alternative to grab a warm drink!
- Vancouver Christmas Market
Check out the cute shops and charms at the various booths at the market! Open from November 13th to December 24, this 14th year of the market is the perfect place to find your new holiday gifts! From fan-favorite foods such as Pretzels and Churros, it’s the perfect spot to grab a meal with your friends. to Make sure that you avoid peak hours such as the weekend or weekdays after 5pm, as you do not want to be stuck in a stuffy crowd for the whole experience!
- Vandusen Festival of Lights
If you are living in the area near UBC, then you are in luck! The Vandusen Festival of Lights at the Botanical Garden is open from November 29th to January 5. With 15 acres of over one million sparkling lights and tasty food vendors, it’ll certainly be a one of a kind experience. If you live further from North Vancouver and don’t like heights, then this is the perfect place for you! There’s even a show of dancing lights at the top of every hour for 20 minutes to add some extra fun.
- Mountains (Grouse/Cypress)
What’s Christmas without the snow! If you’re a fan of skiing or snowboarding, heading up to the mountains is a must. If you want to go somewhere closer and more family friendly, head up the Grouse Mountain for some family fun. If you’d like to do something more adrenaline inducing, then going to Cypress mountain would be the best pick!

Now, we’re switching gears to indoor activities just in case it’s way too chilly outside. Consider going on a Christmas themed movie marathon with all of your loved ones! With the classics of Elf, Home Alone, and a Christmas Carol, it’s time to revisit our childhood favourites. For any action-fans who are interested, then the Red One starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, releases in theatres on November 15th.
